William R. Huneycutt, CPA is the Founder and CEO of Dogwood Tax & Advisory, LLC. Wil grew up in Locust, NC. After high school, he attended Catawba College in Salisbury, NC where he majored in Business with a concentration in Accounting, minored in Economics, and played baseball for the Indians. As a pitcher, Wil was a two time all conference pitcher and was selected as an Academic All American his senior year.
Wil has spent his career in a variety of tax and advisory roles for entrepreneurs and their various businesses. His passion is the same as the purpose of the firm: to provide entrepreneurial business owners with the clarity and confidence they need to achieve their vision. Under Wil’s leadership, the firm has transitioned from a more traditional firm into a boutique tax and advisory firm, specializing in advisory services and tax strategy for entrepreneurs.
Wil and his wife Katie have four children. Wil is active in his community, serving recently as Board Chair of the Stanly County Chamber of Commerce, Board Chair of the Stanly County Economic Development Commission, and Treasurer at Carolina Christian School. Wil is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in North Carolina and a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Corine is a bookkeeper with Dogwood Tax. She handles the recording of financial transactions and summarizing the data into financial statements for non-profits as well as for-profit businesses. She also handles payroll, sales tax and preparing reports to federal and state agencies. She has over 14 years experience at our firm. She lives in Randolph County with her husband, Danny.
Devona is an accountant working in the areas of bookkeeping, payroll, and administrative services. Devona works with numerous clients providing monthly and regular bookkeeping and payroll services. She received her Associate’s Degree in Accounting in 1996 and has worked in the accounting profession for 26 years. Devona lives in Denton with her husband, Dwain.
Heather is an accountant working in the areas of advisory services, tax planning and strategy. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in 2003 and her Master of Accountancy in 2013, both from Gardner-Webb University. She has worked in accounting for 22 years. Heather lives in Asheboro with her husband, daughter and their three dogs. She enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering in the children’s ministry at her church, and loving on her fur babies.
Jan Jackson joined the firm in October 2022 and works in the firm’s Advisory Services team, working from the Albemarle location. Jan is from the Detroit, Michigan area where she studied accounting at Wayne State University. She went on to get her Master’s in Business Administration from Appalachian State University in North Carolina. Jan has worked in the accounting field for over 40 years giving her clients the experience needed to support them in strengthening, growing, and expanding their businesses. Jan resides in Locust, NC where she loves spending time in the outdoors, enjoying sports and reading a good book.
Kent Thompson attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Kent has over 35 years of experience in the accounting and finance field, predominantly in the healthcare industry including small to mid-size hospitals, medical practices and surgery centers. He has worked as an Accountant, Controller, Finance Director and Chief Financial Officer, giving him a unique perspective to help clients in diverse positions. In addition, Kent has eight years of advisory experience in a consulting role for one of the largest regional accounting firms in the southeast, having served clients in multiple states in the eastern half of the United States. He is passionate about assisting clients reach and exceed financial and operational goals. Kent is from Thomasville, NC and now resides in High Point, NC with his wife, Robin. He has a married son and two granddaughters and a stepdaughter. Outside of work, he enjoys music, sports and spending time with friends and family.
Originally from Bear Creek, NC, Kimber graduated from Chatham Central High School and furthered her education by earning an associate degree in Business Administration. Now residing in Randolph County with her husband, Terrell and two sons, Tariq and Kobi, Kimber finds joy in spending quality time with her family and embracing the busy life of a “personal taxi” as her children explore the world of sports and interesting destinations. She is committed to supporting clients with excellence and excelling in delivering top-notch organizational efficiency to our firm.
Kim is the COO of Dogwood Tax. She performs an array of tasks to ensure the satisfaction of our clients and the efficiency of our work. She graduated from Randolph Community College with an Associate Degree in Business Administration, and has over 20 years of combined customer service and management experience. She lives in Asheboro with her husband, Dru. They have two sons, Logan and Elliott.
Mary grew up in Wisconsin and attended the Northeastern Wisconsin Technical College and University of Wisconsin – Green Bay. She moved with her husband to North Carolina in 2005 and does not miss the Midwestern winters. She previously owned her own accounting office in the Raleigh area. Mary has worked in the accounting field for more than twenty-five years, and enjoys income tax preparation, QuickBooks work, bookkeeping and tax planning. Outside of the office, Mary enjoys spending time with her husband Dan.
Michelle is the Executive Assistant for Dogwood Tax. She joined the firm in 2015 after years of managing a real estate firm and working in insurance. She enjoys the details that make the office run as smoothly and efficiently as possible. She is very much a people person and loves being able to greet clients as they come in the door. She is married to her high school sweetheart and together they have two sons and two grandsons that are her pride and joy. She lives in Albemarle and in her free time, she enjoys working as a wedding coordinator.
Niki is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of North Carolina (NC CPA License #42460) and works in Albemarle office. Niki was born in India and moved to the United States at age of 11. She grew up in Hardeeville, SC and completed her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from University of South Carolina Beaufort. After graduation she moved to Charlotte, NC and began working at a public accounting firm. She now lives in Union County with her husband, Lakir. They have a pet bird named Happy, who she absolutely loves and adores. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling and exercising.
Sherita is a Certified Public Accountant (NC CPA License #25894) in the State of North Carolina, and has worked in public accounting for eighteen years. Prior to her work in public accounting, she worked in accounting in the banking sector for ten years. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is a member of the AICPA and NCACPA. She lives in Randolph County with her husband, Eric.
Tammy Cooper joined Dogwood Tax & Advisory in 2024 as a Staff Accountant with the firm’s Advisory Services team. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and has worked in the accounting field for over 20 years. Tammy is from Lexington, NC and enjoys cooking, gardening, traveling, and spending time with family.
